VirWall Keyboard Sanitizer KBS-1
Product Fact Sheet
Purpose of Product
To sanitize computer keyboards as a measure of preventing the spread of potentially pathogenic organisms
Reason for Development of Product
Dr. John Roberts, inventor of the Keyboard Sanitizer, had never been as sick, as frequently, or for such long durations as when his son attended elementary school, a school with computer classrooms. In reading scientific journals to better understand how bacteria and viruses are transmitted, he learned that certain inanimate objects (i.e., computer keyboards) can become perfect homes for the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Touching these objects transfers the bacteria from object (vector) to user, then from user to multiple objects as well as friends, classmates, co-workers and family. He notes that at the peak of the 2007-08 flu season, absenteeism in his office reached almost 50%. Dr. Roberts combined his skill as a photographic scientist, his engineering background and his familiarity with the electromagnetic spectrum to devise a solution. His efforts resulted in the development of the (product name) – a safe, simple and effective device to inactivate potential pathogens that lurk on keyboard surfaces and in the spaces between keys. “The germs I’m concerned about in an office or classroom on a day-to-day basis are the influenza virus, Norovirus, MRSA, and the common cold rhinovirus,” said Dr. Roberts. His KBS-1 can inactivate all of these microorganisms and more.
